Simple chicken apple sausage sheet pan dinner is a family favorite for busy weeknights when you want a healthy meal that everyone will enjoy without too much time and effort. This easy recipe combines the savory flavors of red potatoes and slices of sausage with fresh garlic, rosemary, and olive oil for a dish that packs plenty of flavor into each bite.
Why You’ll Like Apple Chicken Sausage Sheet Pan Dinner
This easy dinner is on repeat in our home because:
- It’s so simple. This simple recipe only uses a handful of simple ingredients so you don’t need to buy something from the store that you will never use again. To make the recipe requires minimal prep as well. Nothing complicated here!
- It feeds a crowd. Do you have an extra guest or two for dinner? Just add an extra pound of potatoes and another sausage or two. So easy!
- The whole family will like it. The flavors are basic enough that kids will like it (what kid doesn’t like potatoes and sausage) but the fresh rosemary and garlic add some great flavor that makes this dish stand out to the older crowd too.
- It’s fast! One of the best things about this recipe is that everything gets mixed in one bowl and cooked on one sheet which equals less mess and less time spent during prep time and cleanup. The sausage is already fully cooked which speeds up the cooking time as well.

Tips for Chicken Apple Sausage Sheet Pan Dinner:
- My personal preference is to use red or Yukon potatoes because the skins are soft and you don’t need to peel them (saves more time!), but regular potatoes (russet potatoes) are a great option too if you peel them first.
- The best part of this recipe is that you can change the flavor of this dish by using different flavors of savory fully-cooked chicken sausage or even turkey sausage. Try Aidells’ pineapple bacon, roasted garlic & gruyere cheese, Cajun style, or spicy mango with jalapeno. Yum!
- If you use Azure Standard, next time try their organic USA-grown chicken apple sausage or chicken spinach sausage.
- If some members of your family prefer even more flavor (i.e. my teenage son), a favorite way to add more flavor is by topping this sheet pan recipe with barbecue sauce.
Ingredients:
4-5 fully cooked chicken apple sausages, sliced into coins (we use Aidells brand)
Red or Yukon potatoes
Minced garlic
Fresh rosemary
Freshly ground black pepper
Tools You May Need:
Large mixing bowl
Non-stick ceramic rimmed baking sheet
Knife
Chicken Apple Sausage Weeknight Dinner Meal Prep:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Prepare the Ingredients
Slice the sausage into coins and set aside. Wash the potatoes and dice them into small pieces. Mince the garlic and chop the fresh rosemary.
Combine the Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the potatoes, garlic, and rosemary with the avocado oil, salt and pepper. Do not add the sausage in this step. Stir until all the ingredients are well coated.
Bake Halfway
Transfer the mixture to a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil and spread evenly into a single layer. Place the baking sheet in a preheated oven for 20 minutes.
Add Sausage and Continue to Bake
Remove the baking sheet from the oven and stir the sliced sausage into the potatoes, flipping the potatoes over for even cooking.
Bake for 20 more minutes. Pierce with a fork to ensure the potatoes are tender. If they are not tender, keep cooking at additional 3 minute intervals until tender.
Broil Chicken Apple Sausage Sheet Pan Dinner
Turn on the broiler and broil 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
Storage:
Store leftover sheet pan chicken sausage dinner in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. This particular recipe doesn’t freeze well because the potatoes will turn to mush when thawed.
